I'm curious. You date it as 1941 and your Dad is about to deploy to North Africa. The US did not enter the war until after Pearl on Dec7 1941. The American landings on North Africa, Operation Torch, were in November 1942. Was your Dad going on something before the US involvement in the war, or should the date of the photo be 1942? They look happy about the whole deal anyway.
I guess it had to be 1942. But My father was automatically drafted in 1941 because he (and two of his older brothers) were in the Ohio National Guard. They were called-up as part of the national emergency.
