A common site in the west....Windmills pumping water out of wells for livestock.  There were two 'old school' windmills near the Buttes:

The View From Pawnee Buttes

This is the usual view, from Pawnee Buttes.  But we later found a road that drives right through the windmills (our first image posted yesterday).

The light was very flat.....lots of haze from western wildfires (many in Colorado).

Sources of Power

I may have mentioned a new/current photographic project capturing images of the Boulder Power Plant, whose stacks are visible from many parts of the County:

But there are increasingly Alternative Power Sources appearing around town.  

So we will take a look at those too, and expand the Project to documenting alternative energy.

This particularly striking solar panel installation at Mountain View United Methodist Church, Boulder.  There are lots of solar panel installations going up, many sponsored by local government.  More on that as the Power Plant Project proceeds.

Continuing A Theme: The Power Plant Project

You've seen this before in many images of the Indian Peaks:

Above a Photomerge of 3 - 35mm images from 2012.  The Project proposal is to photograph from every location around Boulder where the smoke stacks from this Power Plant are visible.  And it's visible from a lot of interesting places.

So why another Project?  Because it would get really boring just photographing one thing all the time.  I know some people do that.  But it wouldn't work for me.  I have a third Project to propose.  and then we are off and running.  Of course my posts will not be limited to these three projects.......
