Wednesday Windows......Getting Started with a New Series

I follow the Thursday Doors posting on Twitter and Wordpress.  But I am more of a Window person and I found a Wednesday Windows Twitter Group.  So I'm picking this up as a new posting series.

My Take on Windows may be a bit different from the usual postings by the group.  But let's go!

Final Scenes Around Santa Catalina Island: Part I

We start with the Casino, where you can take Ghost Tours.  Something that I will try to do on my next visit.  The word 'casino' means gathering place, not the gambling we typically think of.  So there was never gambling.  It is a Theater and Event Center, and always has been.

Not open to the public and originally built for the Convenience of the Wrigley Family.

Catalina Island Menagerie

Lots or Birds, Fish and seasonally Whales and Seals.  But on land you'll be fortunate to see the local Foxes (which climb trees) and the Bison that were introduced in the early 1900's.  I highly recommend taking the Catalina Island Conservancy Tour.

Santa Catalina Island

On our Summer California Trip we decided to visit Santa Catalina Island.  We certainly want to go back and spend more time.

I'm going to begin my posts with scene from a Jeep Tour we took with the Catalina Island Conservancy.  They own most of the Island (Thanks to Mr Wrigley) and it is the only way to see the interior.

The Beach at the Two Harbors Area:

Below, interesting Geology.  The Island has a volcanic origin and this appeared to be a volcanogenic sulfide deposit:

 We took a boat tour of the Long Beach Harbor....... Here a new bridge being built to replace the Arched Bridge and accommodate larger container ships.

Most docks owned and operated by Japanese and Chinese Companies.....

Weekends Online: The Weston Collective 2020 Workshop Schedule

I support the work of the Weston Collective to promote all forms of traditional (and yes even some digital) photography.  They have a Great Line-up of Workshops for 2020.

But they don't have it posted on their FaceBook or Twitter so that I could share it easily.  I let them know that they need to do an update.......

Weekends Online: Ghosts of Mazanar

We visited Manzanar when we lived in California.  Quite by 'accident', saw the sign and turned down the road:

We've also visited Heart Mountain in Wyoming and Amache Camp in Colorado.

Recently the remains of Giichi Matsumura were found and identified.  He had gone out to paint and was caught in a freak storm.........

This marks the formal return of my Weekends Online Series.  At least once a month I will have a post referring to something interesting that I found online......

More Rivets on White........

I first fell in love with Rivets crossing the San Francisco Bay Bridge.....No place to stop and photograph, although the next time I cross it I will try to capture some images.  Of Course, The Golden GAte Bridge, of the same era offers the opportunity to walk across and do some photography.
