Happy Halloween!

Let's go to Zombie Crawl 2014:

And this being Denver, we start with some ground rules.

These gals were great, and really stayed in character.......

She started following me..........

And then went after Donald:

Lot's of Blood and Gore:

Zombie Crossing Guards, mostly because the downtown drivers had no sense of humor and were not being careful in the Zombie Zone:

And make-up artists were back to help you get your zombie on:

Watch out for the Zombie Geeks........

More tomorrow for All Soul's Day!  And check out Donald's Photos,  Favorited on Twitter by the Denver News.

Bonanza #6: Last view.....

Last View for now as we take a break for Halloween Fun!

Gotta love that dark orange filter for the richer sky.  Compare to below using yellow filter, where I had to crop out the vignettes because it was too strong to be an enhancement.  The lower corners suggest a vignette in the image above, but wit the dark sky you can't see it.

Bonanza #4: Barn Details

Do you see the photographer in the photo below?

When you are shooting with a group it is sometimes hard to avoid capturing other photographers in the act.  At least this was my husband...... Note:  I cropped out a wayward photographer (not my husband and not in a critical part of the image) in posting #2 on Sunday.  One of the advantages of the wide angle medium format.  I have a lot of image to deal with and can often remove part without you noticing.

Bonanza Homestead #2: Dealing with Vignettes.....

I am still exploring the capabilities of my Mamiya 7 system.  I was using a dark orange filter (for those dark skies).  But it was not a thin profile filter, so I got some vignetting with my wide angle lens.  Because even the 50mm Mamiya 7 lens is really wide.  And not that Ive acquired a 43mm ultra wide angle lens, I'm working out this problem.

Sometimes vignettes detract and distract.  But sometimes they provide framing.  And as any plastic camera enthusiast knows, a desired effect.  So what do you think.  Is the vignetting attractive or distractive?

Saturdays Online: Photo Theft Online

In case you hadn't noticed, I've been degrading my image quality.......Mostly to thwart those those Online Photo Thieves......

A Couple of reminders of what really goes on out here:

From Petapixels:  A warning about Instagram

And A Gallery of Shame for those that steal photos to promote their business.  Imagine that you hied a photographer for your wedding or other special event and the portfolio that they presented to get you business was entirely fake.   No wonder your photos didn't turn out well

And a special mention of the Design Student in New York that was a prolific online poster of other people's photos.

Let's continue with our Ghost Towns and end on a lighter note.  We visited Bonanza, but it was still inhabited (at least seasonally).  And not as in tact as St Elmo's.  So I wasn't very inspired.  However, along the road to Bonanza there was an interesting Homestead Ruins:

We'll explore here over the next few days............And Coming at the end of the week for Halloween: The Denver Zombie Crawl.

All Things Mechanical, Vicksburg, CO

We know that I enjoy photographing equipment at these sites.

The rainy day didn't allow us to linger.......but I did what I could with what I had:

If you know what any of this equipment is used for let me know.

The Main Street of Vicksburg, Colorado

Sorry for the hiatus.......I have all of my B&W and Color film images and I'm ready to go..........

So we start with the town of Vicksburg, Colorado:

 Looking East....

Looking West.......

I noticed some vignetting, especially in the lower corners.  I will have to use stepping rings and larger filters.  Here I used Yellow to highlight the fall colors of the Trees.  I kind of like the effect so I did not crop it out.

Founded in 1867 by miners from Leadville.  For more info Click Here.  And please ignore their ads........

We also stopped by Winfield, but it was pouring rain by then.  So we'll have to catch that on a return visit.  More scenes from Vicksburg over the weekend....and then we'll move on to Bonanza and a nearby homestead.

The Problem with Too Many........

Tourists, is that someone will be parked in front of the building the you want to Photogaph:

Moving in closer removes the obstacle.......and still captures the essence of the building.

St Elmo's Town Hall........

Had a dual purpose:

The stouter construction in the rear was the Town Jail.
