Saturdays Online: No More TLR's

Now that Rollei is closing up shop, there will be no more TLR Cameras:

Some may ask why this matters, but we have experienced a striking loss of diversity in creative camera options.  Nowadays, everyone uses very similar cameras, with similar results.  A lot of "SAMENESS" going around.

Well, I've got mine, and if you are interested in exploring this camera type you'd better get yours soon.  Uses 120 film which is still readily available.  And I'm certainly keeping the Logo!

Saturdays Online: Photographing the Oldest Trees

Some of the Oldest Trees in the World: Bristlecone Pine, White Mountains, California

Beth Moon has travelled the world photographing our oldest living Trees.  I grew up with an estimated 300 year old oak in my back yard, and it taught me to appreciate beautiful old trees.

Check out more of Beth Moon's Photography.  And please do what you can to preserve old growth forests.

Saturdays Online: Another Reflection on Legacy

Posting another Reflection on theLegacy of a Landscape Photographer: Clyde Butcher, who in addition to being a fabulous photographer, has worked through his photography to protect and preserve the Everglades and other natural areas in Florida.

There's a KickStarter going to produce a film about Clyde's life and work.  Let's honor him while he's still with us and can enjoy it!

Below a reposting of one of my meager landscape offerings:

Saturdays Online: Film Saved by the Under 35 Crowd.........

And also the plastic camera craze has helped!  More power to them, as PetPixel explains an Ilford Survey found that the Under 35 Crowd is going photo retro.  And Still More Power to them!

My Neighbor's Snow Couch

And speaking of Plastic cameras. I used to do quite a bit of Holga.  It introduced me to medium format and I've just kept going from there.  Mostly now I use my Holga Pinhole, but recently I've literally dusted off my Holga and started shooting again.

And films are being reborn everyday, e.g., at Film Ferrania.

Also Check Out Local Darkroom if you are looking for a place to do your own work.
