The Wild Life Experience: Raptor Education Foundation

The Colorado Urban Wildlife Photo Club (which we belong to) had a recent Photo shoot at the Raptor Education Foundation.  So this week we will visit with some of the Residents. Most of these lovely birds were permanently disable by humans activities.  Please Treat Wildlife with RESPECT! We share this Earth, we don't own it!

This beautiful face made getting up at 5:00 AM to be in the field at sunrise worth while.

The Wildlife Experience: Raptor Education Foundation

The Great Horned Owl @ the Raptor Education Foundation.   The familiar "owl" sound effect used in the movies.

These guys really blend into the bark.  As we will see, all owls are designed to "disappear" into the woods while they sleep during the daytime.

He seemed to be attracted to something behind him, moving in the brush.  So I captured several quick Head turns (and a lot of the back of his head).

Raptor Education Foundation Needs Your Help

The Raptor Education Foundation needs your help to fund a new Eagle Aviary.  They are adopting a juvenile eagle that has become imprinted on humans and cannot care for himself in the wild.  Read his story HERE.

Since he is a healthy bird he needs an aviary to be able to Fly. Please help him turn into a beautiful Symbol  for Our Country:

(Note:  The bird above is a current resident.

The Wild Life Experience: Raptor Education Foundation

This Merlin is owned and trained by the Foundation Curator, Anne Price.  It is a healthy flying bird, but lives at the Foundation.

An Evening of Owls.....

@ the Raptor Education Foundation.  We'll start with the Great Horned Owl:

This evening was more about education than photography.  But back in 2015 we spent a day long photo shoot with our Photography Club at the Raptor Education Foundation.  See those results here...

Raptor Education Foundation: How Could I Forget This Guy!

OOOOPS!  One more bird to post.  And how could I forget one of my favorites,  The Turkey Buzzard:

Above with the Curator, Anne, this guy was flight capable.  he ended up at the rescue because he refused to leave humans behind and live a wild life (he had been raised as a rescue).
Below, feasting on a quail.

Our more experienced Comrades wanted to see the last bite, Ideally a foot being swallowed:

Good to the last Bite!
