Final Catch-up #5 #filmjune

Final Posts Summary the Twitter #filmjune series

26. Dream Camera and Ilford Film Collaboration:
My Dream Camera: Any Rollei 6000-Series Medium Format SLR in collaboration with Ilford SFX-200 Film.

Here's a review of the camera: https://www.casualphotophile.com/2017/10/06/rollei-6008-professional-medium-format-slr-camera-review/

27.  Have you ever used Zone focusing?
I have used zone focusing, especially in street photography.  But also using it as I test my Mercury camera.  Still learning to use the focusing screen, so sometimes I just go with my estimated distances.

28. Are you a fine grained photographer, or the more grain the better?
I'm a fine grain photographer.  That's why I've never liked HP5 or Tri-X.  The grain just doesn't appeal to me.

29. Have you bought a camera that has been on your wish list?
Yes, I always wanted a Press Camera.  But I didn't have to buy it, our neighbor gave us his Burke and James Press Camera!

30. Have You taught anyone film photography?
No, but I did bring my Husband back from the digital abyss and into the 'Light' of Film Photography again. The last time he picked up his DSLR the dates on the images showed that he hadn't used it in months.  He now favors his Mamiya 6 and Intrepid 4X5.  Saving the analogue world one person at a time!

To The Top!

One Level above the Event Center is a spiral staircase to the Bell outside:

Fortunately the 2.5 ton bell did not ring while we were up there.

Nothing really for scale, but the external bell clapper is the size of a cannon ball.

And a view of the stirs from the top and going down........

Time to Celebrate!

Happy Advent!

But also more reasons to celebrate.  I completed my Master Degree in Civil Engineering yesterday.  Now relaxing and looking forward to the holidays (and more regular postings).  I'll be totaling up the Calendar Sweepstakes tomorrow.  So tonight is your last chance to vote!

International Snow Sculpture Festival in B&W

Perhaps an old choice for the beginning of Lent................

This year's Snow Sculpture Festival was not quite as good as the past ones.  And someone's brilliant idea for mood lighting made B&W photography difficult.  But here goes.........

Night Moves: Ice Sculpture

We didn't make it to Breckenridge this year, but I hadn't shown anything from last year's event..........

Turns out the sculptures photograph best at night.

Long Way Home: The Return of Night Moves!

Yes, Night Moves Have Returned!

And I share with you my 1 hour commute home along Wadsworth Boulevard.

And before you comment on driving while photographing.........Notice I have left a safe distance between myself and the other cars.  Also I don't focus, I just set the camera on infinity and auto-exposure (with my 3200 film), set the camera on the dash board, take the shot, and hope for the best.
This is the best of 5 exposures.

Cheap Gas, But at What Price?

I never thought about photographing around a Filling Station, especially at night, until I was in a class with someone who worked at one (at night). We had a night photography assignment, but since he worked there every night he had to get creative and see what there was to see in his surroundings.

We (Donald and I) sometimes wondered why our gasoline (or petrol if you are overseas) was always 20-40 cents or more cheaper than the national average. Then we thought about our neighbors..............

The 'Luxury' of Cheap Gas usually means that you may have some undesirable neighbors.

Meet Denver's own local Oil Refinery!

It's about halfway between my home in the hinterlands, and downtown Denver. We pass by here whenever we go to the far east side of Denver from our home.

People here have a lot of respiratory disease. The remnants of Denver's industrial past help to explain that.
