The Marade: Speaking Truth to Power

Or where the Power really Lies:

The Mayor of Denver had refused to speak to the Crowd, because he objected to the presence of 'Black Lives Matter".  He was eventually 'shamed' out of City Hall to speak,
but arrived with body guards.

Black (& Brown) History: The Marade for Jessica

Some disturbing events have occurred in Denver, and the media has completely ignored it.  The Denver Police and the Denver Sheriffs Office pay out millions of $$$$$ each year in wrongful death settlements.  But in all the discussions of Police Shootings, Denver never comes up in the conversation.  And I ask myself why?

One instance that particularly disturbed me was the Death of Jessica Hernandez:

Perhaps because she was a teenage girl doing a typically stupid teenager thing (driving a stollen car).  But I don't think you should die for being a teenager, doing something that white teenagers do everyday and get a slap on the hand for.

Yes Jessica, REST IN POWER!

The Marade #2: A Little Irony?

The grave markers in Remembrance of those killed by the Police Across America in 2015.  A not so ironic juxtaposition of these markers with the statue honoring all the Native Tribes forcibly removed from Colorado.

Black History Month & MLK Looking Back

I attended the Denver Marade (March & Parade) on Martin Luther King Day., but never had a chane to post anything.  So we will wrap up Black History Month with views from the Marade.  See Donald's Pix from the Marade HERE.

In somewhat Chronological Order.  Above: Marching down Colfax.

Waiting for (more) Snow Part 3

Many people here decorate their yards with old farm equipment:

The close-up (above) seemed more interesting to me than the full image of the equipment (below).
