Garnet, Montana: Mining Flotsam & Jetsam

Wrapping up our B&W visit to Garnet Montana with odds and ends that I'l calling "Flotsam & Jetsam".

We start with the Garnet Saloon....not much to see inside, but a nice facade:



 Above: an assortment of miner's cabins, which typically only lasted ~5-10 years because they were built without foundations. and Below:  I especially liked the tool marks left by the axe on these rough hewn logs.

And yes, a fire hydrant, because many ghost towns have fallen victim to fires.  Some building at Garnet too.  But planning ahead, installing a fire hydrant and well insures preservation.
