The Unboxing Reveal.........

The Mamiya 1000S with a waist level viewfinder was my first foray into medium format 12+ ears ago.  My first 1000S was purchased at a photo swap meet in San Jose, CA.  All the professionals were moving to digital, and there were great deals on film cameras.  My first 1000S was not in great shape like this one, but it was a rugged camera and a good stating point.  I also got n 80 mm macro lens with the camera purchase........That has proven to be a very useful lens, giving me a medium format macro option..........

I wanted to revisit the waist level viewfinder and work in a totally manual mode.......

Shortly after moving to Colorado, I traded up for a Mamiya 645 Pro because I wanted the changeable back option.  But I always regretted giving up the 1000S.  But now I have an even better one!

This must have been a display camera because it was virtually unblemished.

Friday we'll see the first images from my 'new' vintage camera........

  1. Very beautiful camera. Those Mamiya 645's are work horses. I've never owned one, but one of the studios where I worked had several. I got to use them. Really nice and silky smooth operation. Congratulations on finding such a fine camera.
