Weekly Volcano #11: Sunrise at Mono Lake


Most visitors probably don't realize that Mono Lake is part of a volcanic tructure.

As you can see, winter sunrises are beautiful.
What you can't see is how cold it is!

  1. Mono Lake, I have only seen it in daylight. Each time was en-route from Lee Vining to Bodie; I love that 'ghost town', such a great place to visit.

  2. We only saw the sunrise because we were on our very first photo workshop together. It was ugly, because we are not morning people AND it was January and way below freezing at 6:00 AM!

    But the leader of the Workshop, Richard Knepp, became one of our photo friends....
