Saturday's Online: Give Wildlife Some Space!

You may have already seen this on line:  Elk vs. Photographer.  It didn't actually seem like a very aggressive situation to me.  This Elk could have made things really nasty, even with those small antlers.  Instead, just seems like a typical teenaged boy getting a little frisky.  Buy a good telephoto and give the Boys some space........

But even very cute guys like this are still wild animals and deserve respect:

And if Mom is nearby, you could be in a world of hurt!

At Walden Ponds.......

Well not quite.  Walden Ponds near Boulder, CO are flooded gravel quarries.  But now a great bird habitat frequented by migratory flocks.

Meet our Newest Camera Family Member: My Mamiya 7

Now I can cross this off my 'To Do' list of New Year's Resolutions from the past 2 years..........

Photo taken by Donald with the Mamiya 6 (T-MAX film).  He claims that I wouldn't let him use the M6, so he supported me buying the M7.  I say he wasn't using it and I didn't want  it to go to waste........That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  More details on the Mamiya 7 to follow, as we spend this week looking at my camera test pix.

And me photographing Donald with the Mamiya 7.  Notice the difference in aspect ratio.  This is the 50mm lens.  I could get the 43mm lens and go 'super wide angle'.

The Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month........

The Armistice ending WWI went into effect.  After WWII we renamed it Veteran's Day here in America.

This is a special posting of Monday's On-line featuring imagery from WWI and WWII and photos taken by a Korean War Veteran..

First a recent link to World War I as the first real Media documentation of War:  We often forget how grim it really was.

Next images from World War II in Color.  All in Kodachrome! The Italian Campaign where my Father served. See some of his photos HERE (B&W).  And more WWII in color here.

And Finally a preview of some beautiful photography by my late Father-in-law from Post war Japan.  He was on his way to Korea, and fortunately for him the Korean War ended before he got there.

And what Most Veterans Actually Wish for our Future:

In Memoriam: Kelly the Little Black Dog

Taken 4 years ago when she was still healthy and vibrant.  We have a question mark for her birthdate because she was a stray that we adopted from the Monterey County Humane Society in California.
