Workshop #3

Not sure where I want to go with this.  It could probably use a bit more cropping........or maybe a total reshoot?

Workshop #2

Another case for Cropping.  The original images isn't too exciting.......but I liked the reflections captured in the mirror.

I wanted to see if Cropping would add more interest.....

Cropping takes away the context.........Which of the three do you prefer?

Denver Architecture Workshop #1

Two weeks ago we participated in a Denver Architecture Workshop with Christopher James.  The workshop allowed us to photograph interior spaces, not generally open to the public. I've spent most of this morning sorting images for a workshop portfolio review.  Over the next 2-3 weeks we will look at the results.

Let's start with the Studio interior, an old catholic school building in Downtown Denver........

Above cropped and below the original Mamiya 6X7.  I found the edge of the window distracting, so I would print it cropped. Would probably crop a bit more.  Link to Donald's Workshop Photos.

I had forgotten to put a cable release in the camera bag with the Mamiya 7, so I used the timer which allowed a maximum 2 second exposure.  Exposed at f/8 for 2 seconds and push processed from ISO 400 to ISO 800, T-MAX film.

More about The Barn Project

Inspired by this barn near my home, and lamenting the loss of open farm land to housing, We've decide to start documenting the remnants of rural life that still survive in Boulder County.  Obviously abandoned and who knows how long it will survive in this climate without maintenance.

Expect more Barns and other farm buildings to appear throughout the summer................

Saturdays Online: Way to go Calumet! No class at all!

If you follow the photo/camera world you've heard of Calumet.  They were a premier camera and photo equipment supplier.  They filed bankruptcy this week and locked out their employees with no warning.  Also have orders for equipment that might not be filled, cameras in for repair with no notification to the owners as to what will happen, etc.......

Read more in this Interview with a now former employee.

In an Odd coincidence I had been on the Calumet website Monday looking for a used Mamiya 7 body (decided to have a back-up).

First there was no used equipment section available.  They used to have one, so that was strange.

Second, all of the new camera equipment required placing an order.  There was no on sight stock for anything!  Read the Employee's comments on that.  It was surreal......

But let's end on a good note with a photograph and Announcing the "Barn Project":

From the High Country #1

We haven't spent much time in the high country this winter.........with all the traffic and bad accidents, we seem to have lost our taste for it.

But from a quiet spot along the Peak to Peak Highway at Red Rocks Lake:

Denver Nights

We had the opportunity to photograph the Denver Skyline from the Balcony of the Museum of Science and Nature.

The weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we hope to have opportunities in the future sponsored by the Colorado Urban Wildlife Photo Club:

Above is the cropped image, below the original.  Which do you prefer?

We spent this past weekend on a Denver Architecture photographic workshop with Christopher James.  I'll be posting more on that next week..............because I need to develop my film..........

What I did Last Night............

Spending today in the Dark Room trying to complete the 'wedding gift' print.  Who knew it would be this difficult!  The 8X10 was a breeze, the 11X14, not so good.......

But last Night was a Musical Night for me performing Carmina Burana...........

By the way, Who is Vance Brand?
